The One-Stop Business Platform for Community College Students.


I. Program Overview

The Orange County Business Hub (OCBH) is a student-run, not-for-profit program that aims to make relevant career, educational, and entrepreneurial resources more accessible and discoverable to community college students. OCBH consolidates relevant business events and opportunities hosted by top universities, reputable organizations, and campus entities into a single, easy-to-use platform. Beyond the platform, OCBH provides additional services to reduce common barriers faced by students and our providers.

II. Website Structure & Navigation

A. Homepage

Organizes opportunities into the following categories:

  • Competitions
  • Societies, Clubs, & Organizations
  • Internships
  • Networking & Workshop Events
  • Transfer Programs & Scholarships
  • Student Project

B. Submit Opportunities

Students may submit opportunities by navigating to the “Submit Opportunities” tab in the website header. Submissions are categorized into three sections:

  • Student-Led Initiatives
  • Campus Organizations
  • External Organizations

III. Eligibility & Publishing Criteria

To be eligible for publication, submissions must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Provide a career, educational, or monetary benefit
  2. Be related to one or more of the following fields:
    • Marketing & Sales
    • Finance & Accounting
    • Entrepreneurship & Management
    • Economics
    • Real Estate
  3. Be open to community college students
  4. Located within Orange County or offered online
  5. Come from a trustworthy source, such as
    • Accredited public/private universities; Community colleges; Official departments, centers, or programs within a school
    • Established companies, organizations, programs, or 501(c)(3) nonprofits that
      • Have a good public reputation, identifiable contact information, official company website/LinkedIn/platform, and documented past events
      • Are known for their career or education opportunities
  6. Have a subscription or entry fee that is free or low-cost (under $50 for single-event, approximately $150/y for subscription)

IV. Resource Trustworthiness

In determining a relevant and dependable resource for students to use, it must be considered “trustworthy”. The 

following information is what we may consider eligible:

  • Event is hosted by,
    • Accredited public/private universities; Community colleges; Official departments, centers, or programs within a school, or
    • Established companies, organizations, programs, or 501(c)(3) nonprofits
  • Organization has a good public reputation, identifiable contact information, official company website/LinkedIn/platform, and documented past events
  • Organization is known for their career or education opportunities
  • Event contains a description of what participants and program may do, and full event details

V. Submission Types & Requirements

A. External Organization Submissions

  • Typically hosted by external entities or students from other colleges 
  • Submitters are not required to manually enter full event details
  • Students are encouraged to:
    • Link the official event website, or
    • Upload a flyer/poster
  • The OCBH team will research and complete missing information

B. Campus Organization Submissions

  • Typically submitted by students who lead or represent an organization from their own college
  • Providing event details is more mandatory
  • OCBH will still assist in gathering and verifying information when possible

C. Student-Led Initiatives

  • Intended to support early-stage projects and startups.

An initiative may be posted if either of the following is true:

  • Its mission or objective is business-related, or
  • It seeks collaboration from business students

Additional notes:

  • Initiatives must be in early development stages
  • Projects that are already mature or purely promotional are not eligible
  • Common use cases include:
    • Recruiting collaborators
    • Validating ideas
    • Startup funding (early-stage)
    • Acquiring feedback or conducting surveys
    • Hosting interest or informational meetings

VI. Submission Review & Approval Process

  1. All submitted forms are sent to the OCBH email inbox for review
  2. Submissions are evaluated against eligibility requirements
  3. All information is recorded in an organized filing system to track:
    • Active announcements
    • Expiration dates
    • Archived content
  4. If clarification is needed, OCBH will contact the submitter using the email provided
  5. The submitter will receive a follow-up email with additional information and whether their submission was:
    • Approved, or
    • Denied
  6. Approved submissions are converted into a post and published

VII. Post Lifecycle Management

  • Each post has a defined active duration
  • Once an event deadline or expiration date passes:
    • The post is removed from public view
    • The content is archived to prevent clutter
  • Submitters may request:
    • Early removal of their post
    • Edits or corrections after publication

A. Homepage Card View

When displayed on the homepage, posts show only the most essential details:

  • Featured image
  • Location
  • Eligibility requirements
  • Entry fee

B. Full Post View

Published posts include:

  • Featured image
  • Event location
  • Event coordinator(s)
  • Key dates and start/end times
  • Eligibility requirements
  • Fees
  • Contact email(s)
  • Full event or opportunity description

IX. Program Roles & Responsibilities

  • Program Leads
    • Coordinate decision-making for sustainability, growth, relevancy, strategic relations, and optimal support
    • Builds relationships with departments, clubs, advisors, and local organizations
    • Reviews submissions, collects and organizes all information (clubs, events, internships, etc.) into database
    • Edits and publishes posts
    • Consultation and partial participation in all areas of the program
  • Concentration Representatives
    Includes Finance & Accounting Lead, Sales & Marketing Lead, Economics Lead, Management & Entrepreneurship Lead, and Real Estate Lead
    • Research opportunities, programs, and events that are open to OCC students
    • Provide insights—either business-related in general or specific to their focus area—on features, services, or strategies that best support students

  • Developers
    • Provides consultation regarding the website structure, features, & functionality
    • Assists with developing website
  • Marketing
    • Creates promotional materials, messaging, and social media presence.
    • Assists with brainstorming strategies to stimulate student engagement & awareness

X. Program Objective

The primary objective of the Orange County Business Hub is to make discovering business opportunities easier and more efficient for community college students. The program prioritizes relevance, convenience, and simplicity.
